Winter Special

$17.00 a pair (Machine wash, air dry)

Alpaca Socks:  Luxury for your feet and this time of year, what could feel better than a pair of "light-weight, but oh so warm" alpaca socks.  They fit in your shoe or boot.  Wick moisture away from your skin and keep your feet so toasty you will never want to take them off (I know loads of people that don't EVER take them off, except to shower!  Call me for current sizes and colors - also available Rose Gray Alpaca Slipper Socks or Boot Socks... heavier than the ones shown above - for wearing with your ski boots or just wear around the house for warm and toasty toes!  Picture coming soon.

Men's in Regular and XL sizes and also a Men's Shortie size 10-13.  Newly available is a "loose top" Women's sock in Black or White (especially nice for those of you that have Diabetes or just don't like a tight feeling sock, the loose top is great, I love them for that reason, they feel so light and they are so warm.  Here is another secret about alpaca fiber socks, they don't retain any bad odors, don't have a clue why, but they don't, really, I am not kidding, they don't smell, even after several days of wear!  The white "loose top" would be perfect for you medical people, nurses, aides, doctors...

Also still have just a few hand-knitted alpaca hats left this year - special price $25 each, only three left!  White and Navy pattern, Fawn and White pattern and a dark rose gray cabled ski cap.

"Alpaca" is one of the worlds most luxurious yarns, soft and very lightweight, each tiny fiber is hollow with super insulating properties.  Alpaca repels water, which is why, when you wear alpaca socks, your feet stay dry (that is called wicking) and hikers know how important it is to keep your feet dry! despite having no "yicky sticky" oils or lanolin to maybe irritate your skin.  Alpaca is very easy to care for, dries fast when washed or you can save yourself even that easy option and have it dry-cleaned.

How to clean alpaca garments: (if you don't have them dry cleaned) ... A few turns in some water with generic shampoo, rinse 'till clear (do not wring or twist) block and roll in a towel overnight, then let air dry.  If your felted hat gets damp or wet, just let it air dry.

Items pictured below are warming the heads and necks of lucky recipients from all over the USA - most of these I knitted using imported Peruvian Alpaca yarns, although some are homegrown and hand-dyed, most are not.  In late 2005, Klamath River Fiber Processing opened for business in Ft Jones CA (15 miles from Yreka) so ever since then I have been using strictly "homegrown" fine and super fine alpaca fibers and yarns for my handmade projects.  I do dye some and I do add bits of other natural fibers from time to time, such as English Angora or Silk.  I love the fact that, when you buy a hank of BLACK yarn from me, it is not over-dyed, it is a 100% natural color and if you are lucky enough to come by to pick it up, I will even introduce you to the alpaca that donated it!
